Depending on your specialisation, you’ll create functional, beautiful, intuitive and accessible objects, websites, apps, publications, interiors and landscapes and discover how design operates in our rapidly changing, technologically innovative and socially conscious world.
UC’s work placements and short-term overseas study options will help you find plenty of inspiration – and all the while you’ll be exploring the law (contract, constitutional and more) and developing the abilities of a socially and ethically responsible legal practitioner.
What’s more, UC’s Bachelor of Laws/Bachelor of Design allows students to fast-track their studies during winter term and, in their final year begin their Master of Design Strategies.
Combine a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Design at UC and you will:
- gain a fully accredited law degree and a broad theoretical, historical and technical knowledge of the discipline of law, suitable for entering the legal profession, becoming an advocate, or undertaking related careers

Credit arrangements
There are currently no formal credit transfer arrangements for entry to this course. Any previous study or work experience will only be considered as part of the application process in accordance with current course rules and university policy.
Bachelor of Laws/Bachelor of Design (SCAR03) | 120 credit points
- 1. The award name for the Design part of this course is determined by choice of major. E.g. The Specialist Major in Industrial Design leads to the award 'Bachelor of Design (Industrial Design)'.
- 2. The Specialist Major in Interaction Design has been revised for 2022 & contains new units. The previous version of this major can be found in the 'Superseded Majors' section.
- From 2022 unit 11276 Litigation & Dispute Processing has been replaced by the equivalent unit 11783 Civil Procedure. Students who have already passed 11276 cannot enrol in 11783.
- From 2022 unit 11283 Equity Law has been replaced by the equivalent unit 11785 Equity and Trusts Law. Students who have passed 11283 cannot enrol in 11785.
- From 2024: Units 11253, 11268, 11380 have been replaced with new BGL Internship units 12046, 12047 and 12048.
- 1. Honours students must select 11272 Law and Justice Research Project and 11289 Law Honours.
- 2. Unit 11293 Taxation Law is no longer offered. Students who completed this unit before Semester 2 2021 may still count it towards their Law electives.
- 3. Unit 11261 Advanced Criminal Justice is no longer offered.
- 4. From 2022 unit 11266 Human Rights in Context has been replaced by the equivalent unit 11784 Human Right Law. Students who have passed 11266 cannot enrol in unit 11784.
- 5. From 2025, unit 11256 Criminal Justice is no longer available.
- For students who commenced SCB101 prior to 2022, the previous Category B (Breadth) and Category C (Depth) requirements have been combined.
- Students must complete 24 credit points for the Law Elective major (SM0033). Of these, a minimum of 3 credit points and a maximum of 12 credit points must be from the Work Integrated Learning group.
- The Core Major in Design has been revised for 2022 & contains new units. The previous version of this major can be found in the 'Superseded Majors' section.
- From 2021 unit 11042 has been replaced by unit 11656. Students who have already passed 11042 do not need to pass 11656.
- Students enrolled in ARB201 B Design (Industrial Design) must complete 11574 Professional Practice: WIL Studio 3. All other students should complete 11018 Professional Practice 2: WIL.
- From 2021 unit 11043 has been replaced by unit 11655. Students who have already passed 11043 do not need to pass 11655.
- These majors have been revised from 2022. Students who commenced before 2022 should seek course advice.
