Tips for Students

Important Student Advice

Finishing exams and obtaining results can be a time of mixed emotions. There is a sense of relief that your exams are over, but you will also have some anxiety about what lies ahead.

Remember, life isn’t about one decision or one pathway. The decision you make today will not always affect the rest of your life. And nobody tells you that it is common to change your mind about what you want.

Life is in fact an adventure, and everyone’s pathway will lead them to different destinations. Whilst we all feel disappointed when we don’t reach the goals we set for ourselves, it is important to remember that there are other goals we can set and reach.

So what do you want now?

This is the time to ask yourself some questions:

  • What do you want to do now?
  • Did you get the ATAR you need?
  • What are the best pathway options for you?
  • What are you interested in?
  • Will you need to do both an undergraduate and post graduate degree?

If you don’t know some of the answers to these questions, there are some resources that could help. Check out the Career Reference Centre located in the Centrelink Office in Braddon, they have heaps of resources about career and study options. Or you could check out for info and help.
