Adjustment

Adjustment to any new environment is characterised by both feelings of excitement and apprehension for all who are exposed to changes.

Most students have some feelings of anxiety during their time at Uni. Some of these are everyday concerns that can be overcome with limited support, or simply seem to go with time, for example, when they have made friends, settled into their accommodation and worked out many of the new experiences that go with being a student, attending class, the library and do their assignments.

Sometimes negative feelings and experiences persist and students feel very overwhelmed.

Whether you are experiencing minor or more complex issues, please feel free to seek help from the many resources available at UC.

The University of Canberra Counselling Service can assist you to handle these changes and challenges in any stage of the adjustment process and well into your academic endeavors.
