Cost of living

Canberra is one of the most affordable cities in Australia for students, which makes studying at our Bruce campus a logical and exciting choice.

Canberra's Cost of Living

Canberra (and the Gold Coast) are Australia’s most affordable student cities, making it an ideal choice for international students on a budget. The cost of living in Canberra is significantly lower than in other major cities, with rental prices for a one-bedroom apartment averaging around $1,000 less per month compared to Sydney. Groceries, transport, and entertainment are also budget-friendly, allowing your student dollars to stretch further. From UC’s affordable on-campus accommodation starting at $195.50 per week (including utilities) to shared off-campus housing options, you’ll find a variety of cost-effective living arrangements to suit your needs.

Affordable living doesn’t mean sacrificing experiences. Canberra offers free and low-cost activities, like exploring museums, galleries, and Australia’s iconic Parliament House. Living in Canberra gives you the flexibility to save, study, and enjoy student life while experiencing one of Australia’s most safe, welcoming and inclusive cities.
