Awards

Standard selection criteria includes:

• The nominee must be a graduate of the University of Canberra or the Canberra College of Advanced Education.
• Nominees must be of good public standing and have a positive relationship with the University.
• Nominees must be available to accept their award at the celebration in Canberra on Friday 29 July 2022.
• Nominees must be available for interview and be able to present additional supporting documents upon request.
• Nominees in the Rising Star Award category must be comfortable with the public voting process.

The nominee should have 20+ years of professional experience; they may be employed or retired. The nominee can clearly demonstrate:

• Substantial and significant impact and contribution to their chosen profession nationally and/or internationally
• Demonstrates leadership, recognition and standing within their field or profession
• Advancement of knowledge and innovative practices
• Advancement of professional practice
• An active contribution and commitment to the community

in recognition of an emerging professional in any industry

Successful candidates will not have reached a senior or executive level position; however, they will demonstrate a strong career trajectory with the possibility of forward achievement. The nominee may be self-employed or employed by an organisation on a full or part time basis. The successful nominee will demonstrate one or all of the following:

• Potential to be a role model in their business or sector
• Ability and passion to achieve success and results
• Dedication to giving back or inspiring others
• Recognition from others as having the potential to become a future leader in their industry
• Where self-employed, recognised as building a business that is earmarked for success over time

The Rising Star Award will have a public voting process for shortlisted candidates. The public vote for this category will have a 50% weighting towards the finalist selection.

A shortlist of three nominees will be created for each award category based on the selection criteria. The shortlisting panel will include:

• Alumni and Community Engagement Manager
• Advancement Services Manager
• Associate Director, Media and Communications

The Rising Star Award will have a 50% judging weight from a public vote. All shortlisted candidates in this category will receive votes from the general public. Public voting will be open 1-15 March 2022 via the UC website.

Final selection of winners will be made by a panel including:

• Chancellor
• Director, Advancement
• Former Alumni Winner
• Chair of Academic Board
