The UC Library is a great additional resource for study support and assistance.

We also run a Student Mentor Program, which will assign you a Student Mentor to support you through your first 8 weeks at UC. They will connect you with support services, share their own study experiences, help connect you with the UC community, and guide you around campus. Our Student Mentors reflect the diverse UC community, so you’ll be matched with someone based on your degree, shared experiences and interests.

At UC, we’re dedicated to our students’ professional growth during and after study. We offer a range of career support initiatives to help you develop your skills and achieve your career goals.

Our experienced Careers UC team offers services including workshops on employment skills like resume development and interview techniques, volunteering opportunities, casual work, Work Integrated Learning opportunities, graduate programs and other personal and professional development opportunities.

Internships and placements

UC’s world-class approach to Work Integrated Learning (WIL) sets it apart among Australian universities. WIL means learning skills and knowledge first hand through real-life experiences like placements, internships, projects, mentoring and simulated industry environments.

Annual career fair

Each year, we hold a careers fair in the Refectory to help UC students connect with local and national employers.

You’ll have the opportunity to explore part-time work opportunities, internships, placements and graduate roles, as well as learning more about your chosen industry.

Volunteering opportunities

Volunteering is a great way to gain hands-on experience of working while you’re still studying. It can help you develop skills like resume and cover letter writing, communication, teamwork and networking, and give you new knowledge and perspectives on your chosen industry and the wider world.

Work while you study

We prioritise UC students for casual and part-time employment opportunities on campus. Working while you study is a great way to offset your living costs, boost your employability and earn a competitive edge to take into the job market. As an international student, it’s important to remember that you are entitled to work 48 hours every fortnight during term time (unless you are a PhD or master’s by research student) and unlimited hours during your holiday breaks.
