Life at UC: Your accommodation is guaranteed
10/09/2026 | Useful information, Student activities

Life at UC: Your accommodation is guaranteed

If you’re considering moving to study at the University of Canberra (UC), you’re probably already thinking about where you’re going to live. UC understands the importance of secure, affordable and student-friendly accommodation for all its students – that’s why we offer the unique UC accommodation guarantee!

So, what does UC offer regarding accommodation and how can you apply?

Life at UC: Your accommodation is guaranteed

The UC Guarantee

Put simply, the UC accommodation guarantee ensures that all first-year domestic and new or continuing international students are able to access a place in UC student housing. This means that all students will have a place to live!

UC student housing offers a range of residential options, from rooms in multi-share apartments to private studios and units, so there is something to suit everyone. Housing is also offered at a range of price points to suit every budget.

International student eligibility

To be eligible for UC’s accommodation guarantee as an international student, you must:

  • Study a course at our Bruce campus
  • Be a new or continuing international student
  • Start your studies or re-enrol in Semester 1 or 2 of the year you apply
  • Submit your application to an accommodation provider by the closing date

How to apply

To utilise the guarantee, all you have to do is record a note in the free-text box to say that you’re a first-year resident requiring an accommodation guarantee.

Why is UC accommodation a good option?

Taking advantage of the UC guarantee is a great idea for international students because it takes the stress out of finding a place to live. Moving to start your studies in Canberra is already an amazing challenge, and choosing to live in campus accommodation is an excellent way to take some of the pressure off.

UC accommodation helps simplify things for you. All accommodation options are located on or near campus, so it’s easy to learn your way around and access everything you need. All campus accommodation options also include utilities in the rent, which makes budgeting that much easier.

Campus accommodation provides the perfect opportunity to settle into your new life in Canberra as a UC student. Later in your studies, when you’re more settled, you can always secure your own private rental elsewhere in the city for a fresh experience.

Living in UC accommodation is also a wonderful way to meet and make new friends. Living with other students will give you a sense of community and belonging, and the potential to make lifelong connections.
