About the course

This short course will provide you with an overview of the world of creativity and branding. Specifically, you will understand how design thinking is used to drive brand innovation. You will also learn how to harness your own capacity for creative and collaborative problem-solving. UC academics will be guiding you, giving you an inside glimpse of how brands are being managed and the challenges (and excitement) that comes with it. It promises to be a fun learning whilst providing a 'taste' of tertiary education.

You will:

  • Inspired to consider marketing communication as a degree.
  • Exposed to creative problem solving and design thinking that fuel brand innovation.
  • Motivated with basic thinking process in creating a powerful brand experience.

Course requirements

Open to all students in Years 10, 11 & 12.

Dr Shaun Cheah

Dr Shaun Cheah

Senior Lecturer and Discipline Lead for Marketing Communication

Dr Cheah was in the corporate sector prior to joining the University of Canberra. He began his career in global creative agency Leo Burnett (in 1989), based in their world headquarters (in Chicago). Here he was placed on the McDonald’s International Division and was in a team which managed their global branding (and communication) campaigns. Thereafter he went on to manage other brands in the Asia-Pacific region (i.e. Visa International, Shell, KFC, Nestle, Citibank, Jaguar and Mercedes-Benz), the latter 2 as Regional Group Brand Director. He spent 14 years in the corporate world while his current career in academia spans 19 years (and counting). Dr Cheah currently holds a Bachelor and Master in Marketing Communication, and a PhD in Economics.
