Work Integrated Learning (WIL)
WIL is an integral part of this course, giving students an invaluable opportunity to gain practical experience through clinical placements.
To facilitate your clinical learning, you will participate in various experiential learning simulations before undertaking any placement activities while having access to industry trainers and mentors throughout the entire process. Clinical placements will take place at numerous health and educational facilities such as the state of the art UC Health Precinct and UC Public Hospital; as well as various regional and remote locations around Australia.

Course-specific information
All potential Master of Speech Pathology students must hold a bachelor’s degree (preferably in health or related areas, e.g., linguistics, education or psychology) with a credit or higher average and be proficient in English.
All students are required to undergo a Working with Vulnerable People check and the relevant police check before undertaking clinical practice.
All students need to present a complete immunisation schedule before commencing any clinical practice.
Professional accreditation
The Master of Speech Pathology has received full accreditation by Speech Pathology Australia.
A completed bachelor's degree or postgraduate degree in any discipline with a credit or higher average*.
* Applicants without a degree but with a combination of pre-tertiary qualifications and work experience or professional membership (Equivalent Graduate Status) may apply.
Admission to this course is competitive. Applications will be assessed on the basis of academic merit and the number of available places. Domestic applications will open on the 1st September. First offer round applications must be received by 31st October with offers being released from late November. Applications remain open while vacancies exist for ongoing consideration of offers. Domestic applicants must apply through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) http://www.uac.edu.au/postgraduate/

Additional admission requirements
All students are required to undergo a 'working with vulnerable people' check and the relevant Federal Police Check prior to undertaking clinical practice. Results of the police check must be satisfactory for students to be accepted for practice education placements in a variety of health care settings. Clinical practice placements are essential to the program and are assessed, and may be outside of normal teaching time. Prior to commencing clinical practice, all students need to present a complete immunisation schedule, details of which will be provided by the Placement Office.

There are currently no formal credit transfer arrangements for entry to this course. Any previous study or work experience will only be considered as part of the application process in accordance with current course rules and university policy.
