Professional Practice 1 PG (10273.2)

This is a professional practice unit that builds upon knowledge and skills developed during the program. Students apply theoretical and ethical knowledge to assessment, analysis and intervention for communication and swallowing disorders across the lifespan during their work-integrated learning experiences.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:
1. Assess and treat individuals with communication and/or swallowing disorders considering the principles of the ICF, relevant theory, culturally responsive practice, evidence-based practice; and the contexts and communities in which the individual chooses to participate;
2. Demonstrate the ability to adapt communication and service delivery to accommodate the diverse backgrounds of individuals, families and communities; and
3. Critically reflect on and modify their professional practice to assist in competency development.
