Learning outcomes
On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:1. Assess individuals with communication and/or swallowing disorders using culturally responsive and evidence-based approaches to determine the need for speech pathology services;
2. Analyse and interpret assessment results to diagnose and support individuals with a range of communication and/or swallowing disorders across the lifespan;
3. Develop and implement ethical, holistic and person-centred speech pathology plans for individuals with communication and/or swallowing disorders that consider theory, culturally responsive practice, evidence-based practice and the critical appraisal of research, and community participation/engagement;
4. Evaluate and reflect on speech pathology scope of practice, interdisciplinary, and multidisciplinary practice; and
5. Critically reflect on and modify their professional practice to assist in competency development.
