The Bachelor of Health Science is a great introduction to the health industry and is designed to help you gain employment in a health related area. It offers a broad-based introduction to health science in areas such as public health policy, psychology, nutrition, anatomy and indigenous health. You can choose to take your degree in a number of directions by majoring in subjects such as pre-physiotherapy, pharmaceutical science, nutrition, applied psychology, health and physical education, counselling or midwifery.
Study a Bachelor of Health Science at UC and you will:

Course Specific Information
The Bachelor of Health Science is a flexible degree that you tailor to suit your needs and interests. Depending on which major you study you can choose to go onto further study in physiotherapy, pharmacy, nutrition, dietetics, exercise science, nursing, occupational therapy, psychology, counselling or even honours.

Credit arrangements
There are currently no formal credit transfer arrangements for entry to this course. Any previous study or work experience will only be considered as part of the application process in accordance with current course rules and university policy. Credit is not permitted towards completion of a graduate certificate.
Bachelor of Health Science (317JA) | 72 credit points
- 1. From 2020 unit 8577 Health Program Planning & Development has been replaced by 10454 Health Program Planning & Evaluation.
- 2. Students in the Bachelor of Public Health must complete the 24 credit point version of this Major.
- Students choosing to undertake the 24 credit point Major must be enrolled in the Human Nutrition degree course or have permission from the Convener of the Major.
- Students in the Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Science are only required to complete the 21 credit point version of this Major.
- In choosing restricted electives students are reminded that no more than 30cp at level 1 is permitted for the entire course.
- These Majors are greater that 18 credit points, and may be taken under this requirement by counting the required units only.
- Where a Major includes a unit already studied as a required component, the student will substitute a restricted elective from within the Faculty of Health, or take the 21/24cp where available.

Students who successfully complete the degree with a GPA of 5.5 may be eligible for enrolment in the Bachelor of Health Science Honours course
Alternative exits
In order for the Diploma of Health Studies to be awarded the student must have:
a) completed 24 credit points with at least 12 credit points at Level 1
b) completed a minimum of 12 credit points at UC and
c) obtained a minimum of 12 credit points in any of the health disciplines.
In order for the Associate Degree in Health Studies to be awarded the student must have:
a) completed 48 credit points with at least 12 credit points at Level 1 and 12 credit points at Level 2
b) completed a minimum of 24 credit points at UC and
c) obtained a minimum of 24 credit points in any of the health disciplines.
