This major is designed for students wishing to gain an understanding of core themes underpinning professional health care practice in midwifery theory. These include knowledge of midwifery practices, indigenous health care, perinatal mental health, and law and ethics. Students not enrolled in the midwifery course are permitted to undertake this major. This major is particularly suited to those seeking a career in health administration, or interested in health research. This major includes no practicum units, and students will not be able to practice as a midwife.
