27 October 2016: After an impressive season playing for Brisbane in the South East Australian Basketball League, University of Canberra Capitals guard Janelle Adams said she’s ready to take her game to the next level.

The 175 centimetre guard has joined the UC Capitals for the 2016/17 WNBL season and has set herself some clear goals for the months ahead.

“I want to learn as much as I can from the coaches and from my teammates,” she said.

“The team is great and I’m really happy to be here.”

The 26-year-old averaged 15 points and five rebounds per game for the Brisbane Spartans where she played alongside fellow UC Capitals teammate Steph Bairstow.

Before that she played three seasons with the Toowoomba Mountaineers in the Queensland Basketball League. She also played four seasons of college basketball for Cleveland State University from 2008-2012.

UC Capitals head coach Paul Goriss said Adams brought a terrific level of skill to the team.

“Janelle has slotted seamlessly into our playing group,” he said.

“She has a quiet demeanour but is a hard worker and is always doing extra on the basketball court to improve her game.

“She is a versatile player and can swing between the point and off guard positions. Her skill set and creativity suits our style of play and she brings a quiet confidence to our group.

“She is a welcome addition to the UC Caps and I can only see Janelle getting better and proving her worth as the season progresses. She has the necessary skill set and the right attitude to be a quality player in this league.”
