Cultural Safety

“Here in Australia, we’re fortunate enough to have one of the richest and oldest continuing cultures in the world. This is something we should all be proud of and celebrate.”
– Tom Calma OA (Former UC Chancellor)

The University of Canberra has a vibrant and active cohort of First Nations students. Our aim is to ensure that our students experience a culturally safe learning environment on campus (and online). This extends to the workplaces where they complete Work Integrated Learning (WIL) placements or internships.

We are so thankful for the WIL opportunities our employers provide for our students. We know that it can be difficult sometimes to find the information needed to create a culturally safe environment. We have gathered information we hope you find useful in assisting your workplace to be culturally safe for all First Nations people.
