Animal Ethics
In compliance with the ACT Animal Welfare Act (1992) and the Code of practice for the care and use of animals for scientific purposes (The Code) any activity that involves the use of animals for research, teaching, or breeding, must be approved by the Animal Ethics Committee (AEC).
The above legislation protects the welfare of animals and ensures that their use is always humane, considerate, responsible and justified.
In accordance with the Code all applications must be tabled at an AEC meeting. Please refer to the AEC Meeting Dates to ensure applications are submitted by the submission deadline for the corresponding meeting.
