Animal Ethics ApplicationSubmit a new application. All projects must be submitted to the Animal Ethics Committee for approval before commencing. Approvals are valid for three years.
AmendmentsModifying an existing application online via Infonetica. For example, adding new personnel to an application or modifying existing protocols. To create an amendment, you must first request your existing application to be unlocked by emailing the Research Ethics and Integrity Office (REI).
Animal Ethics CommitteeThe Animal Ethics Committee (AEC) in Australia is a legally required body that oversees the ethical use for the animals in research and teaching, ensuring compliance with the Australian Code for the care and use of animals for scientific purposes. It reviews, approved, monitors and may reject proposed animal research projects to ensure humane treatment and justify the scientific or education need.
Authorisation of PersonnelAll new personnel named on the ethics applications must complete Phase I ANZCCART Compass training and upload their Compass certificate to the ethics application they are listed on. Personnel who completed Canvas training and received authorisation prior to 2025 will be required to complete Phase I ANZCCART ComPass training upon the renewal of their three-year application (section 3.4.1.).  However, the AEC strongly recommends that they complete Phase I Compass training.
