Complaints Procedures

Animal Ethics Complaints Procedure

Purpose

1. Complaints concerning the care and use of animals by the institution, including conscientious objection in the case of teaching activities

2. Complaints concerning the AEC process of review of an application or report

3. Complaints concerning the process for independent external review

4. Non-compliance with the code by any person or party including investigators, animal carers, governance officials and external parties

Complaints Process

  1. Write to the Secretariat of the AEC by emailing: animalethicscommittee@canberra.edu.au
  2. The AEC will ask questions to the Chief Investigator (CI) and will be relayed via the Research Ethics and Integrity Team
  3. CI will get the opportunity to respond to the questions
  4. If the complaint is not resolved, the AEC will file a formal complaint to the Research Ethics and Integrity Office
