Timing your Internship

Identifying and negotiating with an Industry Partner can take some time. It is encouraged to discuss your supervisor and identify potential Industry Partners early in your candidature to allow for discussions and Internship Project development.

Tips:

  • Ensure you allow for 3-6 months for Contract Agreement and Project development negotiations
  • Engage with UC Careers to identify any existing university partnerships with potential industry partners
  • Discuss with your supervisor early on in candidature
  • Be strategic and look at Industry Partners that support career development goals
  • Consider potential industry partners that help you build your transferrable skills to support diversifying post PhD
