Industry Engagement Reporting

You are required to report all industry engagement you undertake during your candidature to The University.

How: You must report via the Industry Engagement Reporting form
Who: All PhD candidates must complete the form (even if you did not engage with industry)
When: Either at the end of your industry engagement period or prior to completion

Note:
You will need to use your staff ID to complete the form.
You will need to upload a copy of the following:

  1. Employment or Internship Agreement with Industry Partner. This may be a legal document or communication between parties. PDF or Word
  2. Timesheet or documentation of the days/dates worked throughout your engagement. This does not have to be signed off by anyone. It is just a record.

What can be considered "Industry Engagement"

  • Industry Internship (paid or unpaid)
  • Employment in your industry or field
  • Field work with an Industry Partner (paid or unpaid or part of your PhD research project)
  • PhD project funded by or in collaboration with an industry partner
  • Non UC supervisor at any point of your candidature

UC Reports to Government

The Australian Government Department of Education requires HDR indicators to be collected under the Higher Education Data Collection program. The aim of the data requirement is to support new research block grant funding arrangements (RTP Scholarships). You are required to report industry (end-user) engagement to The University prior to completion.

There is a key component the Government is looking for when collecting the data which is if an internship or employment met the below criteria.

Criteria for Industry Internship or Employment

  • Duration: 60 days/3 months full time equivilent
  • Must have agreed to the internship or employment  within the first 18 months of candidature
  • Must be in their industry or field

The above criteria will be what you need to report on and show evidence of.
