The Snow Scholarship is more than financial support—it's a program designed to open doors, build confidence, and create real opportunities for students who may not have seen university as part of their story.
Created predominantly for students from Canberra and regional or rural NSW, the scholarship supports those facing barriers—to not only get to university, but to thrive while they’re there. Scholars receive funding for living expenses, tailored academic support, wellbeing care, and personal development opportunities. Just as importantly, they become part of a welcoming community of peers and mentors who walk alongside them on the journey.
This is about backing potential, nurturing purpose, and creating space to grow.
The Snow Foundation is a family philanthropic organisation deeply connected to Canberra and the NSW South Coast. Founded by brothers Terry and George Snow, the Foundation believes in giving to the communities in which they live and work.
From the beginning, Snow Foundation has supported people facing barriers – especially youth, women, LGBTIQ+ and First Nations people. The Snow Scholarship reflects this commitment, empowering youth, backing their potential, and supporting individuals who want to make a difference in the world around them.
These values reflect the legacy of Terry Snow – a visionary leader who believed in striving for excellence, lifting others up, and creating lasting impact through kindness and action.

“Everyone deserves a fair shot at university. The Snow Scholarships are about backing young people with smart minds and big hearts who may be facing real barriers. We’re here to open doors, build confidence, and help shape meaningful futures. Watch them grow into the leaders, thinkers and changemakers who will shape the future of their communities.”

The Snow Scholarships are made possible through a $20 million partnership between the Snow Foundation and the University of Canberra.
This partnership is built on shared values—equity, inclusion, and the belief that education can change lives. The University of Canberra’s commitment to access, student success, combined with its broad range of vocationally driven degrees, and its strong focus on real-world, accessible placements makes it the ideal partner in delivering this opportunity for future leaders and changemakers.
Equity and inclusion – making university accessible for students regardless of their background.
Holistic support – offering financial, academic and wellbeing resources to help students succeed.
Personal development and impact – equipping students with the opportunity to thrive and the skills to give back where it counts.
Sustainable change – understanding that real impact takes time and building a program that lasts.
Flexible and future-focused – because there’s no one-size-fits-all path to education.
