Vocational Education Pathways
From TAFE and CIT to university
Here at UC, we believe no two journeys to uni are the same. Whether your background is in hands-on training, or you’ve followed a different path entirely, we recognise the value of experience.
If you've studied at a local or interstate vocational education provider, like CIT or TAFE for example, your experience could help you gain entry and even earn credit towards your dream degree at UC.
This means your path to uni might be easier and quicker than you once thought because at UC it's not about where you started, it's about where you're going.
Work & Study: Entry & Credit Checker
The Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) and the University of Canberra (UC) share a commitment to practical, hands-on learning and to helping people build real careers.
These guaranteed pathways recognise the value of vocational education and the skills students bring from CIT. Eligible diploma graduates will receive guaranteed entry and credit toward a UC bachelor degree—saving time, reducing costs and continuing their study with confidence.

Got a VET qualification and hands-on work experience?
You might be eligible to enter straight into a postgraduate degree at UC without completing a bachelor’s degree!
Explore your options for work experience recognition and take your career to the next level.
You may be able to receive credit towards your UC program if you have a completed Certificate IV or higher. Receiving credit may shorten your degree and reduce overall costs as it lowers the number of required subjects.
There are different ways to receive credit depending on your previous study and the UC course you’re interested in.
