UC’s virtual Open Day: 11 September 2021

Sara Garrity

9 September 2021: Prospective students who register for UC’s Open Day will be able to book one-on-one online consultations with academics to discuss course options, and attend livestreams with information on pathway programs, how to apply, scholarships and more.

With the Open Day being online, there are plenty of opportunities for school leavers to connect with current students and staff about future studying and living at the University using virtual platforms.

The University’s On Demand facility will also provide virtual tours and video resources, available prior to and beyondOpen Day, with staff explaining how various courses prepare students for their  chosen career paths.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor AAcademic, Professor Geoff Crisp, said the safety of staff, students and the ACT community is a priority for the University, and the move to  an online Open Day opens up accessibility to participants from all over Australia.

“Although our campus looks slightly different at the moment, we are delighted to be offering an Open Day experience to our future students, so that they do not miss out on important aspects of the University experience – including virtual tours of the campus,” Professor Crisp said.

“In addition to our standard Open Day services, we are offering a unique opportunity for school leavers to speak to our academic staff, one-on-one.

“This is helpful for those who want to have a personal conversation, and make sure that their degree choices are right for them.”

The virtual Open Day has been created for all, from recent school leavers, to individuals interested in exploring tertiary study after spending years in the workforce, and those wanting to explore higher education for the first time.

People looking to start postgraduate study will have the opportunity for personalised consultation with Careers UC, Higher Degree by Research,, and academics.

The live information sessions and one-on-one consultations will be held from 10am to 2pm on 11 September.

The University of Canberra is aware that the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) has delayed offer rounds to ACT and NSW students, and has NSW students covered for admission options irrespective of postponed HSC exams.

We encourage all students to participate in the Schools Recommendation Scheme (SRS) within UAC if they can.

The Schools Recommendation Scheme allows students to receive their course offers prior to ATAR release. Applications for the scheme close on 19 September.

The University will provide more details about admission dates and other arrangements once the NSW Government and UAC confirm the ATAR release and offer round dates.
