11 January 2021: Those looking to upskill in their field for a fraction of the cost can apply now for a range of short, subsidised courses at the University of Canberra commencing in February 2021.
Whether it’s gaining practical experience in IT, learning the skills of teaching English globally or propelling your career in health leadership, the short courses will be delivered across online and face to face formats – suiting all schedules.
Commonwealth Supported Places (CSP) are offered across 10 graduate programs and one undergraduate course at UC including:
- Undergraduate Certificate in Education
- Graduate Certificate in Education
- Graduate Certificate in TESOL and Foreign Language Teaching
- Graduate Certificate in Heritage Materials Conservation
- Graduate Certificate in Information Technology
- Graduate Certificate in Business Informatics
- Graduate Certificate in Health Research
- Graduate Certificate in Sports Analytics
- Graduate Certificate in Midwifery
- Graduate Certificate in Health Leadership and Management
With the opportunity to complete one of the workforce-ready qualifications in as little as four months full-time or one year part-time, the short courses offer a taste for postgraduate study or can provide a steppingstone into a Master Level Qualification.
In addition to the Government subsidy, all students will have the ability to defer tuition payments via the Government FEE-HELP scheme.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Professor Geoff Crisp said the short courses would be excellent life-long learning for many in the community.
“After a year of job uncertainty due to COVID-19, this is a great opportunity for those looking to upskill within their field or start paving their way towards studying a Master Level Qualification,” he said.
“Not to mention the chance to receive a subsidy on these valuable programs and obtain a university level qualification in as little as four months.”
Along with graduate qualifications, the University is also offering CSP in an Undergraduate Certificate in Education, giving school leavers a chance to get a feel for university study without the three-year commitment.
“What is unique about this program is that there is opportunity for an undergraduate certificate – it isn’t just available to postgraduate students,” Professor Crisp said.
“This means a wider audience with varying qualifications and interested in progressing their skills and career can be involved.”
With Semester 1 classes beginning on 8 February, applications are now open for those looking for further learning opportunities.
