16 March 2016: University of Canberra associate professor of industrial design Carlos Montana Hoyos spoke about authenticity in design innovation at the public seminar, 'Authenticity and the City'.
Held as part of the Canberra Urban and Regional Futures (CURF) seminar series, Dr Montana Hoyos considered the challenges of city centre revitalisation and addressed how a city might achieve authenticity through reuse of tired building stock, retro facades and ornamental use of graffiti.
Discussed with Canberra's current revitalisation in mind, he spoke about how a youth focus, innovation thinking and creative start-ups can lead to a city achieving "the realness" at the lecture, which took place on 7 March.
