Biography

Since joining UC in 2020 Naomi has held positions as a Clinical Liaison Nurse, Academic Clinical Convenor and Lecturer. In addition to being an active member of the UC Galambany Reconciliation Action Working Party, Naomi is on the Faculty of Health Education committee supporting Indigenisation of curriculums and professional development in the Faculty of Health. Naomi was successful recipient of the 2021 University of Canberra Citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning as member of the ‘Restorative Healthcare Team’: Creating relationships of trust and hope for reconciliation and a new social contract of health equity for Australians. In 2021 Naomi was a successful UC CreatEquity $20,000 grant applicant and is the current project leader of the 'Equity in Health care pathways' secondary school outreach project currently taking place involving collaboration between Faculty of Health disciplines and 7 ACT secondary schools in the Tuggeranong region. Naomi has also been successful in receiving four $5000 Tiger Grants in the past 18 months including the ‘UCanHack Interprofessional Passport Hackathon’ project successfully conducted Feb 2022, is Project Leader on ‘CoPPE; Designing and developing a College of Practice Education Professionals’ project taking place in 2022, as well as being a contributing member of the ‘Using AI to assist English language skills on clinical placement’ and ‘Giving students a voice in patient safety: An interprofessional evaluation of a tool and its effectiveness in promoting students’ awareness and avenue to speak up for safety‘ projects. Naomi is currently undertaking a PhD exploring cultural safety in Tertiary education.
