Uplift Package

Introducing the Uplift Package

If you have the drive to upskill and want to study at university, then we’re here to make sure that happens.

2020 has not been smooth sailing. People from all walks of life have felt the ripple effects of COVID-19, from school leavers who have had their year 12 studies interrupted, to those who have lost their jobs, or been forced to adapt to changed working conditions. It’s times like these, many of us look towards education to invest in ourselves for the future.

The UC Uplift Package is designed to support you, by providing you with pathway options to study at the University of Canberra, no matter your situation. The package of pathway options gives those who have been impacted a helping hand to get into a degree and on a path for a brighter future.

Uplift for school leavers

If you’re in year 12, or currently completing high school the Uplift Package is designed to give you a helping hand to enter university. Here are your pathway options.

Don’t forget, you can also apply through our standard entry process.

Entry pathways for school leavers

Schools Recommendation Scheme (SRS) »

SRS can provide you with an early offer to UC before you get your ATAR. Offers are based on your school’s assessment of your ability to study at a tertiary level. UAC applications for SRS are open now.

Early offer round (COVID19) »

UC is making early offers from August based on your school’s recommendation. Simply submit an application for admission and an SRS application through UAC by 5 July and your school will need to recommend you by 26 July 2020.

Portfolio Entry »

Are you a creative thinker looking to study a degree with our Faculty of Arts and Design? Submit your creative portfolio (five pieces of your best creative work) for an early offer to UC that is not reliant on your ATAR.

Special consideration »

Students may face challenges while completing their year 12 studies. If you think you have been disadvantaged during your studies you can seek special consideration. We will assess your application, and if successful, you will receive up to five Adjustment Factors to add to your selection rank.

Uplift for everyone else

Have you had a break since finishing school? Whether you’ve been busy gaining valuable work experience, studying another qualification or travelling the world, there has never been a better time to invest in yourself and upskill. The Uplift Package includes a range of entry options for those who aren’t starting their degree directly from school.

Depending on your previous qualifications or work experience, you may also be eligible to gain credit for units within your degree, or Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) helping you to finish your studies sooner.

Entry pathways for everyone else

Enter with your year 12 result »

Regardless of how long ago you finished Year 12, if you meet the selection rank for the degree of your choosing, you can apply direct to UC using your ATAR, UAI or TER. There is no time limit for the use of your year 12 results.

Entry through prior study »

If you have completed a Vocational Education and Training (VET) qualification (Certificate III or higher), you can use this to study at UC. This may also apply if you have only partially completed the qualification. Get in touch if you’re unsure.

Entry through professional experience »

If you have at least one year of full-time professional work experience, we can assess your suitability for admission. You just need to provide evidence of your employment on application.

Study a postgraduate degree »

If you want to set your sights higher, you can gain entry into a master degree or postgraduate qualification through a completed (or partially completed) bachelor degree, VET qualification or paid work experience.

No ATAR? No Worries

Through UC College you can enter either 1st or 2nd year of study at UC if you have completed Year 12 but have not qualified for direct entry.

If you have workforce experience, you can take the UC Prep program through the UC College and prepare for study at UC.
