In this foundational nursing practice unit students will gain exposure to clinical environments and begin to use frameworks and clinical reasoning to inform decision making. Students will be supported to learn and practice care activities and clinical tasks including comprehensive health assessment, medication administration and a collaborative approach to safe care. With support, students will engage in health assessment and the provision of person centred care in simulated and supervised clinical settings. Students will apply foundational clinical reasoning to assist with person centred care planning and demonstrate safe nursing decision making and action. In applying evidence informed theoretical knowledge and clinical skills, students will identify their personal learning and development needs for nursing practice through critical reflection.
