Students will undertake internships/placements in workplaces in international destinations appropriate to their disciplinary area of study over a period of six weeks. They will work with academics, workplace colleagues and academic and industry partners to apply their learning in real-world, cross-cultural contexts; develop employability skills and strengthen the disciplinary skills and knowledge needed to contribute to and excel in their professions. Students will be supported by university partners to assist them in developing an appreciation of the socio-political and cultural diversity of their destination and an awareness of their industry in other contexts.
1. Understand the application of theory into practice in diverse cultural settings;
2. Develop, through experiential learning, cross-cultural competence;
3. Apply disciplinary skills and knowledge in real-world contexts and critically analyse this process; and
4. Critically reflect on the experience of applying disciplinary knowledge in a workplace in cross-cultural contexts.

Prerequisites
Students need to have completed at least 36 credit points of study prior to undertaking this unit, including the core units of their specialisation.Permission is required from the Unit Convener to enrol.
