Learning outcomes

Submission of assessment items
Extensions & Late submissions
As part of the pass requirements of this unit students are required to submit a competency tracker signed by their clinical educator at mid and end placement.
This is a hurdle assignment. Students must complete this assignment to pass the unit.
If a student fails to submit their competency tracker they will not pass the unit.
Supplementary assessment
If a student fails the pass/fail assignments they can resubmit each assignment only once. If the student fails the assignment on the second submission they must retake the unit when next offered.
Students are not entitled to a supplementary assessment (placement) if they fail their final COMPASS on their clinical placement. Students will be required to retake the unit when next offered.
Academic integrity
Students have a responsibility to uphold University standards on ethical scholarship. Good scholarship involves building on the work of others and use of others' work must be acknowledged with proper attribution made. Cheating, plagiarism, and falsification of data are dishonest practices that contravene academic values. Refer to the University's Student Charter for more information.
To enhance understanding of academic integrity, all students are expected to complete the Academic Integrity Module (AIM) at least once during their course of study. You can access this module within UCLearn (Canvas) through the 'Academic Integrity and Avoiding Plagiarism' link in the Study Help site.
Use of Text-Matching Software
The University of Canberra uses text-matching software to help students and staff reduce plagiarism and improve understanding of academic integrity. The software matches submitted text in student assignments against material from various sources: the internet, published books and journals, and previously submitted student texts.
Learner engagement
Students are required to attend all placement days. If students are unable to attend the placement on a particular day, a medical certificate or evidence for the inability to attend will need to be provided.
All students must attend 80% of the clinical workshops either face-to-face or online.
Participation requirements
Students are required to attend all the allocated placement days. If students fall ill they must contact their clinical educator and the unit convener as per the Master of Speech Pathology Clinical Education Handbook (section 9.1). If the student cannot attend because of illness they must provide a medical certificate or appropriate documentation. Students are required to attend 80% of the clinical workshops either online or in person.

Students may be required to travel to or stay in the region of their placement.
Costs for travel and accommodation are the responsibility of the student.
If the student chooses not to take up a placements offered in different location to their residence, their placements may be delayed.
Work placement, internships or practicums
This unit involves a clinical placement Students must adhere to University policy during WIL activities, including the Student Conduct Rules 2018, the WIL Policy and WIL Procedure, and the Assessment Policy and Assessment Procedure. Work-place learning requires strict adherence to professional practice principles and ethics. Preparation for Work Integrated Learning prior to commencement of your Placement. Client/patient confidentiality must always be maintained (see Clinical Education Handbook ), including for assessment items such as reports or essays. The professional nature of this unit also requires 100% participation at all learning activities (tutorial and placement days). For the successful completion of this unit (also see section 6c) students must complete all the placement assessments and additional assessments. If attendance requirements cannot be satisfied (e.g. timetable clash), it is recommended that you meet with your Unit Convener to schedule this unit for a future semester.
