The Bachelor of Film Production develops student’s interest in digital film making with the intention of establishing creative thinkers and practitioners. Our course provides students with the opportunity to develop a creative practice in filmmaking and to specialise in a technical crew role.
Study a Bachelor of Film Production at UC and you will:
- develop skills through a blend of technical units such as cinematography, sound design and editing
- mature your understanding of the key creative roles of the producer, director and screenwriter
- enhance your team-work skills via an emphasis on film making as a creative collaboration
- learn how to present work to industry and audiences via application to funding organisations and festival distribution
- acquire skills in analysis, problem solving, communication and team projects.
Work-integrated learning
You will be able to make full use of our digital cinema work flow to put your theoretical knowledge into practice. Resources include: full HD cameras and lenses, professional tripods and dollies, lighting equipment, location sound recording mixers microphones and booms, studio and set construction facilities, blue screen studio and compositing software, professional editing and colour grading software.

In addition to normal UC requirements for admission to an undergraduate course the Bachelor of Film Production will allow for portfolio entry in the form of an admissions essay.

Bachelor of Film Production (301JA) | 72 credit points
- Students who completed 9799 Foundations of Professional Planning prior to 2018 may count this unit in lieu of 10333 Professional Orientation (Arts)
- Unit Levels: In choosing electives students should note that no more than 30 credit points at Level 1 is permitted for the entire course.
Note:- Must pass 18 credit points from anywhere in the University, as a Major, a Minor and/or as individual units.
