5 November 2021: The University of Canberra has performed consistently in most subject rankings and improved in others in the 2022 Times Higher Education (THE) World Subject Rankings, with the final results released late Wednesday evening.

Each year, THE ranks over 1,600 universities across 99 countries and territories, maintaining one of the largest databases on universities and their performance.

Out of the total 11 subject areas, UC has ranked within the top 400 for eight subjects.

Key highlights from the results include the University’s clinical and health discipline (101 – 125) continuing to sit within the top 125 universities worldwide, and the social sciences (151– 175), business and economics (201 – 250) and physical sciences (301 – 400) subject areas all jumping a band.

Professor Leigh Sullivan, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research and Innovation at the University said that the institution’s consistent performance and improvement in many disciplines within the THE Rankings was a result of the University’s prioritisation of innovative and impactful research.

“UC has not only performed consistently in the THE Rankings over the past few years, but has also improved results in most subject areas and had additional subjects added to the top rankings,” he said.

“This is a testament to the commitment of our University staff to impart value in every academic activity, especially in driving impactful and innovative research. UC strongly aligns teaching with industry experience and insight across every faculty and subject. This adds considerable value to the student experience and translates to world-ready, job-ready graduates who are ready to make an immediate impact.”
