THE World University Rankings 2021: UC retains top 10 in Australia and top 200 in the world

2 September 2020: The University of Canberra (UC) continued its trajectory as one of the fastest rising universities in the world, jumping nine places to 184th globally in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings in 2021. UC has further maintained its position in the Top 10 universities in Australia.

“Our dedication to both research and teaching, ensuring that our best researchers pass on that knowledge directly to our students, but also contribute to our local community is part of our continued success,” said Professor Paddy Nixon, Vice-Chancellor and President of the University of Canberra.

Since entering the rankings in 2016 and placing in the top 501-600 band, UC has continued to rocket up the ranks to maintain its position in the top 101-200 in 2020 and 2021.

“Rankings do not define our university’s success – rather, they are a wonderful barometer for the way we are tracking internationally. This success is driven by each and every one of our dedicated staff who continue to show resilience, agility and innovation, particularly during this difficult year.

“This result is a fitting celebration of our 30th birthday – demonstrating that a young university like UC can, and does, compete with the very best in the world,” said Professor Nixon.
