The 50/50 by 2030 Foundation

The 50/50 by 2030 Foundation was a research-based gender equality initiative at the University of Canberra within the Faculty of Business, Government and Law. It was founded in 2017 by Virginia Haussegger AM and continued its work until the start of 2023. The 50/50 Foundation work continues while the Foundation itself is undergoing significant transformation in line with the University’s strategic goals of supporting equity and equality.

The Foundation was established with a media arm, called BroadAgenda (BA). The platform continues to operate today and publishes stories and research through the lens of gender. BA has established a large and growing national and international audience. It continues to flourish. By mainstreaming, encouraging and proliferating discourse about all aspects of gender equity – including LGBTIQ+ communities – the platform ambitiously reaches toward a more just and equitable society.
