Support for UC Nepalese students

prayer flags in NepalThe University is saddened by the devastating impact of the recent earthquake in Nepal and currently has 99 students from Nepal. Our staff has actively been in contact with many of them to provide support and assistance. Sadly many students and their families at home in Nepal have been directly affected. A number of students have advised that their family homes have been destroyed, and in some cases their family businesses too.

In response the Foundation established the UC Nepalese Earthquake Student Support Fund. Both staff and students at the University came forward and contributed to support their fellow Nepalese scholars. The overwhelming support from our students, staff, and alumni has been incredible. It is thanks to this support that we have been able to provide financial assistance to every student who applied to the fund.

Each student who applied had been directly affected by the earthquake in April and their stories all highlighted the drive to overcome adversity and also the gratitude they felt to the donors.

By awarding me this scholarship, you have lightened my financial burden which allows me to focus more on my study. It came at a much needed time. Thank you.

Even a small amount will make a great difference in such situations. I will remember your generosity throughout my life.
