The subject introduces the practical communication skills required for success in undergraduate degrees. Writing skills development will begin with a creative writing approach and continue on to writing for particular purposes including the academic essay. Students will develop reading skills from daily newspapers and Aboriginal literature through to more technical, academic reading and research skills. Students will become familiar with library systems and be confident information-gatherers. Students will have practice in group-work and preparing and delivering presentations.
