It is anticipated that the study tour will be hosted by a renowned university in the city/country where the study tour will take place in conjunction with a Business, Government & Law academic, who will co-ordinate the study tour.
Students will be eligible to apply for financial assistance through OS-Help loans (assuming they have obtained at least 24 credit points toward their degree) and Government grants where applicable e.g. the Colombo Plan.
Learning outcomes
On completion of this unit and in the country where the study tour takes place students will be able to:1. Conduct market investigations and research into local & international businesses;
2. Gain exposure to leading entrepreneurs, their practices and business acumen;
3. Visit word-class industries;
4. Research cultural underpinnings of the city/country where the host university is located;
5. Participate in off shore tertiary classes as well as collaborate with students and academics in the host countrys learning institution;
6. Understand the relationships between international trade theories and actual professional practice in another country through self-directed learning;
7. Working individually and in groups communicate their international experience both orally and in written form, with confidence and clarity; and
8. Demonstrate entrepreneurial skills including creativity, initiative, critical thinking, adaptability, leadership, and resourcefulness.

It is recommended students use entrepreneurship/business management/international business/marketing/tourism textbooks from either their previous units studied, using the UC library and internet to investigate and apply relevant theories appropriate to their assessment

In order to pass this unit you must attend all scheduled activities, submit each assessment item and achieve a minimum of 50% of the total marks available.

Use of Text-Matching Software
The University of Canberra uses text-matching software to help students and staff reduce plagiarism and improve understanding of academic integrity. The software matches submitted text in student assignments against material from various sources: the internet, published books and journals, and previously submitted student texts.
Participation requirements
Students are required to complete all aspects of this International Study Tour including attendance at all activities. Students who do not meet these requirements will be at a serious disadvantage in terms of information, learning and feedback and are likely to be unsuccessful in the unit.
Required IT skills
You are assumed to have adequate skills in the use of MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel, Internet browsers and search engines. If you feel you do not have adequate skills, please discuss the matter with the unit convener.
