Learning outcomes
On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:1. Use their own voices with increased confidence and improved vocal control;
2. Understand the physical structures involved in using the voice;
3. Demonstrate spoken and pitched projection;
4. Demonstrate control of physical structures involved in articulation and clear diction; and
5. Understand the relationship between posture and voice production.

Use of Text-Matching Software
The University of Canberra uses text-matching software to help students and staff reduce plagiarism and improve understanding of academic integrity. The software matches submitted text in student assignments against material from various sources: the internet, published books and journals, and previously submitted student texts.
Learner engagement
Students are expected to complete recommended reading before class sessions and to undertake vocal exercise practice between classes as directed. All unit material including recorded examples and demonstration of exercises are available on the unit website.
Participation requirements
Please advise the unit convener of any absence, if possible, in advance. If students are absent they are expected to catch up on missed material. Lectures will be available on Echo360
Thursday 3 hour On Campus contact will always have a short break and will be divided as follows:
Weeks 1-7 & 10: one hour Lecture followed by a practical 2 hour Tutorial session on the same material.
Week 8 and 9: No class
Week 11 & 12: 3 hour tutorials
Week 13: In class individual Viva Voce
Required IT skills
The unit Canvas site provides direct access to a Vocaroo recording app. Student are welcome to explore other recording software e.g Audicity, a free download.
Assessment recordings be submitted as URLs or MP3s. Class time and support will be given to assessments that require particular IT skills.
Students are expected to engage with unit material with the Canvas unit site before and after class sessions.
