All assessment items must be written in your own words. Suspected plagiarism from other sources or other students' work will be very heavily penalized and could result in a FAIL grade.
Special assessment requirements
The final mark for this subject will be calculated by an accumulation of marks from each assessment item. Students must attempt and submit all assessment items to pass this unit Including:
Weekly Homework Exersises (20%) + Mid-semester test (30%) + Maths Problem Soving Assignment (15%) + Final Assessment (35%) = 100%
Additionally you must achieve at least 40% in the final assessment to pass the unit.

Use of Text-Matching Software
The University of Canberra uses text-matching software to help students and staff reduce plagiarism and improve understanding of academic integrity. The software matches submitted text in student assignments against material from various sources: the internet, published books and journals, and previously submitted student texts.
The contact hours for each student consists of 72 hours of lectures and laboratory classes for this unit. The remaining 78 hours of the nominal workload should be used to prepare for lectures, laboratories and assessments.
Students should attend all classes. As a guideline, students with less than 85% attendance are placing their studies at risk as students with poor attendance will find it difficult to keep up with the workload.

This unit involves online meetings in real time using the Virtual Room in your UCLearn teaching site. The Virtual Room allows you to communicate in real time with your lecturer and other students. To participate verbally, rather than just typing, you will need a microphone. For best audio quality we recommend a microphone and speaker headset. For more information and to test your computer, go to the Virtual Room in your UCLearn site and 'Join Course Room'. This will trigger a tutorial to help familiarise you with the functionality of the virtual room.

Unforeseen circumstances beyond the unit convener's control could result in changes to the mode of delivery of lectures, tutorials and practicals (where applicable) and assessments. Students will be advised if this occurs and appropriate alternatives will be arranged.
