Enterprise and Cloud Computing (9281.6)

This unit introduces the fundamental concepts of cloud computing from an industry-centric and vendor-neutral point of view. Service delivery models, enabling technologies and mechanisms, cloud architectures, cloud security, privacy issues, virtualisation, quality, metrics, case studies, and current technologies for working with clouds will be studied.
This unit may be cotaught with 11510 Enterprise and Cloud Computing PG.

Learning outcomes

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
1. Identify and explain core cloud computing service models and deployment models;
2. Demonstrate proficiency in using fundamental cloud services through hands-on configuration and deployment tasks;
3. Apply established best practices for cloud security, cost optimisation, and performance monitoring using standard tools and frameworks;
4. Analyse and select appropriate services and configurations to meet specific business requirements; and
5. Implement basic cloud solutions following documented architectures and patterns to solve common business scenarios.
