This unit will focus on comprehensive medication management and medication safety. It studies the current and emerging roles of pharmacists, including predicting, preventing, detecting and solving common and complex medication-related problems using a patient-focused approach. Students will create medication management plans through formal clinical review, using established clinical guidelines, clinical trial evidence, as well as expert opinion.
1. Critique and propose appropriate & effective professional communication skills;
2. Consistently integrate pharmacology and therapeutics knowledge to predict, prevent, detect complex medication-related problems;
3. Consistently implement safe patient-focused care to maximise health outcomes; and
4. Recommend and justify complex clinical decisions using critical appraisal methodologies, considering best-practice evidence in complex and diverse ethical & cultural situations.
