Assignment 1: Voice Thread submission is NOT required through Canvas as this is achieved directly through the Voice Thread platform.
Assignment 2: Submit a link toyour certificate of completion of the QUEST training to your Mahara e-Portfolio onto Canvas. Two QUEST Quality Dimension Mesasurement Guides, a video link to your video pitch, and your written Quality Improvement Project Plan are to be submitted through Canvas.
Assignment 3: Only 1 student from each group is required to submit the assignment on behalf of the other group members through Canvas.
Technology related reasons cannot be used to support/justify a late submission.
Special assessment requirements
Drop In Sessions
Drop in sessions are scheduled during the semester to provide students support in completing assessment items (refer to class timetable for details). By attending these sessions, students will have the opportunity to:
- Clarify the requirements of the assessment item
- Understand the marking rubric
- Receive feedback regarding general structure of their intended response
Teaching staff will not review drafts or provide specific feedback on the content of student work.
Clarification regarding assessment tasks can also be obtained by posting on Canvas discussion boards. Questions raised on discussion board within 48 hours of the assessment due date/time might be reposnded by teaching staff.
Staff will not respond to questions regarding assessment items raised by email.
Drop in sessions will occur in the Virtual Room on Canvas and be recorded. Dates for drop in sessions are scheduled as follows:
Assignment 1: 3-4pm Friday 25 Feb (week 3)
Assignment 2: 3-4pm Friday 25 March (week 7)
Assignment 3: 3-4pm Friday 22 May (week 11)
Post-assessment feedback
Whole class assessment feedback will be provided as an annoucement through Canvas to discuss the trends of performance and learning when marks for each assessment item are released. If a student would like to receive further feedback, they are invited to book a 15 minute meeting with the unit convener. The convener is available to meet students on Friday afternoons outside of assignment Drop In sessions.
Academic integrity
Students have a responsibility to uphold University standards on ethical scholarship. Good scholarship involves building on the work of others and use of others' work must be acknowledged with proper attribution made. Cheating, plagiarism, and falsification of data are dishonest practices that contravene academic values. Refer to the University's Student Charter for more information.
To enhance understanding of academic integrity, all students are expected to complete the Academic Integrity Module (AIM) at least once during their course of study. You can access this module within UCLearn (Canvas) through the 'Academic Integrity and Avoiding Plagiarism' link in the Study Help site.
Use of Text-Matching Software
The University of Canberra uses text-matching software to help students and staff reduce plagiarism and improve understanding of academic integrity. The software matches submitted text in student assignments against material from various sources: the internet, published books and journals, and previously submitted student texts.
Moderation of assessment
Moderation
A copy of procedures used by the Occupational Therapy discipline at UC is available on Canvas (see Assignments).
Once marking and moderation have been completed, students will receive their marks and apporpriate feedback. If a student would like to receive further feedback, they are invited to book a time with the unit convener.
Extensions
Students are required to monitor their student email account regarding approval or rejection of the extension request.
Participation requirements
It is essential that students actively participate in all seminars and workshops. Such participation is required by students in order to mee the Austrlian Occupational Therapy Competency Standards (2018). Therefore, except in the case of extenuating circumsatnces, 100% attendance and engagement at the seminars and workshop is expected. It is also expected that if students are unable to meet these participation requirements they inform the Unit Convener as soon as practical, by telephone or email.
Required IT skills
The unit utilises online learning site, Canvas, to provide students with acccess to readings, learning activities, and communication about the unit. It is expected that students will have basic word processing skills, an ability to use library databases to search for journal articles, able to search for public electronic information on the interent, regularly access Canvas and their UC email account.
Lecturers will communicate with all students via their UC email account and announcements on Canvas. It is the students' responsiblity to regularly check their email and Canvas for messages, information and/or instructions.
Assessment 1 requires familiarity with Voice Thread platform and students will be given further tuition on how to use Voice Thread platform in class in week 2 or week 3.

Submission of Assignments: All written assessments must be submitted via the dropbox on Canvas.
You must keep a copy of all your assignments.
Unless otherwise advised in the assessment instructions, written assessment pieces must conform to the following requirements:
- Font size: 12 pt - Times New Roman, Caibri or Arial
- Line space: double
- Headings: bold, maximimum size 16 pt.
- Margins: no less than 2.54cm on all sides
- Page numbers: at bottom right hand corner of footer
- Student identification number: (number only) at top right hand corner of header.

- Word length or time length/number of pages will be specified as required. The examiner will stop reading, watching or listening when the allocated word or time limit is reached. Content beyond the word or time limit will not be assessed.
In the course of studying occupational therapy, students may be exposed to clinical scenarios and situations that may be stressful. At UC a free Counselling Service is available for all students.
