Submission of assessment items
Extensions & Late submissions
Late Submissions will attract a penalty of 5% per day for days 1 to 6 after the due date, including weekends as two days due to online submission allowing submission out of hours. Submissions more than 6 days overdue without a valid extension and supporting documentation will be marked as a pass / fail only.
EG: An assignment due on Thursday is submitted on Friday morning. The assignment receives a mark of 76%. The deduction of 5% makes this a mark of 71% .
EG: An assignment due on Thursday is submitted on Monday morning before the lecture. The assignment receives a mark of 76%. The deduction of 20% (5% 5% + 5% + 5%) makes this a mark of 61% .
Students have a responsibility to uphold University standards on ethical scholarship. Good scholarship involves building on the work of others and use of others' work must be acknowledged with proper attribution made. To enhance understanding of academic integrity, all students are expected to complete the Academic Integrity Module (AIM) at least once during their course of study. You can access this module within UCLearn (Canvas) through the 'Academic Integrity and Avoiding Plagiarism' link in the Study Help site.
Use of Text-Matching Software
The University of Canberra uses text-matching software to help students and staff reduce plagiarism and improve understanding of academic integrity. The software matches submitted text in student assignments against material from various sources: the internet, published books and journals, and previously submitted student texts.
Inclusion and engagement
Timing is critical in this aspect of any unit as the earlier staff are aware of the needs of individual students the more that can be done at the earliest opportunity.
Participation in all classes is expected as there is no opportunity to learn verbally communicated content other than having someone taking notes for you during class time. Lecture slides will be available on Canvas and but contain only limited content in comparison to that available during classes.
Required IT skills
On-campus computer facilities are available for students to complete any computer-based work. Students may choose to purchase additional software at their own discretion to achieve a specific outcome but this is entirely at the discretion of individual students and dependent on student choices for assessment items. Refer also to Paragraph 4b above.
