Under the guidance of a supervisor, the student will undertake research and prepare a dissertation on a topic approved by the Divisional Research Degrees Committee. The thesis shall comprise advanced study and investigation embodying a substantial piece of original research, which adds significantly to the literature available in the subject area. The thesis will be assessed by two external examiners.
1. Demonstrate a thorough understanding of research methodology and techniques required for critical evaluation of the literature in relation to the specific research topic; and
2. Demonstrate competence in research and the ability to make an original contribution to the field of sport or other forms of physical activity.
Learning outcomes
