This unit is designed to enable students to understand and apply sustainability principles in strategic procurement in government and industry. The incorporation of sustainability principles and practices has the potential to provide positive outcomes for society and the environment. Students will learn about the political, social, legal/regulatory and environmental context of procurement decisions, and develop practical skills in the design, implementation and evaluation of sustainable procurement strategies in public and private sector organisations. The unit features learning by case studies so that students gain practical experience related to whole-of-life procurement management, sustainability policy and standards, incorporation of sustainability principles in specifications and tender documentation, and measurement and evaluation of sustainability performance.
