The purpose of this unit is to establish a framework for the study of information and its associated professions by examining the dimensions of the information sector. The unit examines the theories of information and the systems by which information is conceived, created, captured, stored, processed and deployed. It considers the political, social, organisational and economic context of information and the professions, disciplines and technologies that manage it.
1. Analyse the information aspects of situations from theoretical dimensions;
2. Critique a range of dimensions and their use in the analysis of information issues; and
3. Integrate various dimensions of information in a specific professional setting.
Learning outcomes

Prerequisites
Completion of 9cp at Graduate Level OR enrolment in one of 957AA Master of Information Studies (Online) or 946AA Master of Information Technology.Corequisites
