Submission of assessment items
Extensions & Late submissions
Please read the above information carefully regarding extensions and late penalties. In addition to the above, please note the following:
- To pass the unit students must: (i) complete each test, (ii) submit an essay and (iii) achieve a total grade of 50% or more overall.
- Students are expected to work on the assessment items throughout the teaching period. Early communication of problems is strongly advised. Students should assess early in the teaching period whether they have a reasonable likelihood of being able to complete the unit and should consider withdrawing by the census date, if required.
- Completed Assignment Extension forms should be emailed to the unit convener along with supporting documentation (please put "Extension request" in the subject line).
- The unit convener will consider your request, determine the length of the extension to be granted and email you advising whether your request is approved or declined. If approved, the new due date will also appear on your UCLearn (Canvas) site where your assignment is submitted.
- Assignments submitted after the due date, regardless of whether an extension was granted, will be returned at a later date than those submitted on time.

To enhance understanding of academic integrity, all students are expected to complete the Academic Integrity Module (AIM) at least once during their course of study. You can access this module within UCLearn (Canvas) through the 'Academic Integrity and Avoiding Plagiarism' link in the Study Help site.
Use of Text-Matching Software
The University of Canberra uses text-matching software to help students and staff reduce plagiarism and improve understanding of academic integrity. The software matches submitted text in student assignments against material from various sources: the internet, published books and journals, and previously submitted student texts.
Students are expected to attend all lectures and tutorials (or listen to recordings).
In addition, students are expected to attend at least one tutorial in real time.
The Reflection on Tutorial Experiences assessment item asks you to reflect on how selected topics covered in the unit relate to your experiences with group work in at least one of the tutorials provided in this unit. Therefore you have to attend at least one of the tutorials in real time, either online or face-to-face. You cannot complete the exercise just by listening to a recording. Attending one live tutorial is sufficient to complete the exercise, however attending more tutorials will give you more material to work with when you do this assessment item.
This assessment item is not compulsory to pass the unit, but it is worth 10% of your grade.
Required IT skills
To attend virtual tutorials online in real time, students need to enter the Virtual Room via the tab on Canvas, which uses the Blackboard Collaborate tool. Blackboard Collaborate provides a virtual classroom where you can communicate in real time with the lecturer and other students. To participate verbally, rather than just typing, you will need a microphone. For best audio quality we recommend a microphone and speaker headset, however a standard headphone & microphone set will also suffice. Work placement, internships or practicums
Announcements made in lectures and on the unit website will be deemed to have been received by all students.
