This unit aims to equip students with a broad understanding of international trade law as it affects Australia. A problem oriented approach is adopted. Some of the key areas covered by the course include the financing of international transactions, letters of credit, extraterritoriality and the enforcement of foreign laws, GATT, international sale of goods, CER, the international aspects of taxation and international dispute resolution.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:
1. Understand the role of the law as it relates to issues of international trade; and
2. Legal research and writing, presentation skills and the abilities to analyse problems and apply the law to resolve the issues and to critically analyse existing law and reform proposals from a legal and global perspective.
