Submission of assessment items

NB: You must submit all assessments and pass all items to pass this unit.
All assessment items will be submitted online via the unit UCLearn site. Written parts of the assignments must be submitted in the required format, on hard copy, 1.5 to double spaced, with page numbers and student names on every page. The first page of each assessment submission should include the following information:

Students are required to keep a copy of all assessments submitted in this unit. Submit assignments with a cover sheet. Assessments must be uploaded on the due (or earlier) date unless an extension has been negotiated. Successful attainment of each of the learning outcomes (including participation in weekly tutorials) is required to pass this unit. Students to use APA referencing style
Responsibility for Understanding
If there is any doubt with regard to the requirements of any particular assignments or assessment procedure, the onus for clarifying the issue rests with the student who should contact the unit convener or tutor. Further, it is the responsibility of students to ensure that they are correctly enrolled in the unit and that the tutor and Student Administration have their correct contact details.

Late submission of assignments
Students will receive a reduction of 5 percent per day from the total mark available, for each day that the assignment is late (up to 7 days after which the student will receive zero marks for the assessment item).
Extensions: Extensions must be applied for in writing before the due date.
Students can apply for an extension to the submission due date for an assessment item through extenuating, evidenced circumstances (specific details are found through the Assessment Policy and Procedures. Section 9.12). Documentary evidence (e.g. medical certificate) will be expected for an extension to be granted, however this will not guarantee that the application will be successful. The Unit Convener or relevant Discipline Convener will decide whether to grant an extension and the length of the extension.

Use of text matching software
Moderation: Some assessments will be moderated, as per the School and Faculty Moderation Procedures.
In order to get the most out of your studies, it is strongly recommended that you plan your time commitments, actively engage in class discussions (online or face-to-face) and work with your peers as part of your study. The amount of time you will need to spend on study in this unit will depend on a number of factors including your prior knowledge, learning skill level and learning style. Nevertheless, in planning your time commitments you should note that for a 3 credit point unit the total notional workload over the semester or term is assumed to be 150 hours.
Inclusion and engagement
It is strongly recommended that students who need assistance in undertaking the unit because of disability or an ongoing health condition register with the Inclusion and Welfare Service as soon as possible so that reasonable adjustment arrangements can be made.
Groupwork is a skills-based unit which requires interactive and practical participation. Students need to have made adequate arrangements for attending all teaching-learning sessions (including lecture attendance/listening and Practicums). If you foresee not being able to participate in all practicums then consider enrolling in this unit on another occasion when this is possible.
Effective and satisfactory participation means:
- demonstration of preparation for the session through reading and critical thinking;
- willingness to share ideas, resources and facilitate others learning;
- active participation in practical exercises, role-plays, simulations, etc;
- constructive interaction with group members through honest disclosures and respectful listening; and
- readiness to adopt and justify a reasoned personal position on issues that arise.
The required active participation includes co-leading group practice, participation as an active group member and contribution to the evaluation of the group-leading done by fellow students.
You must speak directly to your tutor and co-leader, giving at least 48 hrs notice to postpone your tute presentation and only on the grounds of medical or other exceptional personal circumstances with the support of appropriate medical or counsellor documentation.
Required IT skills
Students are expected to have or to develop the information communication technology skills necessary to access the unit's UCLearn website, to submit competently word-processed assignments, to use presentation software (such as Microsoft PowerPoint etc), and to access relevant web-sites/resources and on-line journals.
Students are expected to familiarize themselves with any audio-visual aids and their operation well prior to their presentations.
Students are required to prepare some materials for Ass1, that may involve some printing/photocopying/scanning.
