Learning outcomes
On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:1. Evaluate the professional role of government lawyers as they negotiate and manage contracts in the modern regulatory state;
2. Apply the legal framework for government and corporate contracting to solve problem scenarios with advanced cognitive, technical and communication skills; and
3. Demonstrate effective negotiation and drafting skills to develop a government contract suited to a problem scenario.

The text is Nick Seddon, Government Contracts: Federal, State and Local (Federation Press, 6th ed., 2018).
The 5th Edition can be used and is often available at the Lifeline Book Fair.
Additional readings are posted weekly on the Moodle site.
Participation requirements
Please note that submission of all assignments is a condition for succesfully completing the unit.
Attendance at lectures and workshops, while desirable is not mandatory. Lectures will be taped.
Workshops and Seminars will not be taped (the interactive nature of these sessions limits the useful recording of these sessions)
Required IT skills
Students are assumed to have basic IT skills such as word processing, use of e-mail and be able to access subject information and research databases.
Please note it is the responsibility of the student to communicate via email with the Unit Convenor through the UC student email address only.
